Namibia takes the spotlight once again as the new season of Vet in the Wild arrives on international screens. Filmed entirely at the N/a’an ku sê Foundation, the series captures the raw, unfiltered reality of conservation in action. From moving a full-grown bull elephant across the country to carefully introducing two solitary lions, Vet in the Wild shows what it really takes to protect Africa’s wildlife.

Premiering on World Animal Day, Saturday 4 October, the program will air weekly at 17:50 on BNNVARA, NPO 3, reaching audiences across Europe and beyond.

A Story of Namibia Told Through Its Wildlife

Vet in the Wild shines a light on the people behind the conservation work: Dr. Rudie and Marlice van Vuuren, Co-Founders of N/a’an ku sê, and wildlife veterinarian Dr. Maaike de Schepper. Together with a team of more than 150 staff and volunteers, they treat injured animals, relocate giants like elephants and rhinos, and fight the ongoing threats of habitat loss and poaching.

Every episode offers viewers unprecedented access to real-life conservation challenges – stories that are seldom witnessed by the outside world.

What to Expect in the First Episodes

  • Episode 1: A “blind date” between two lions that have each lost their partners, urgent care for an injured meerkat, and vital work with a pack of African wild dogs.

  • Episode 2: The high-stakes relocation of a fully grown bull elephant, led by Marlice van Vuuren, with more than 50 people working together to move the animal safely across Namibia.

These moments are not scripted. They are genuine, high-risk operations carried out by the N/a’an ku sê team in their daily fight for conservation.

Voices from the Frontline

Marlice van Vuuren, Co-Founder of the N/a’an ku sê Foundation:

“What you see in Vet in the Wild is the daily reality at N/a’an ku sê – a place where every life matters. These stories show the commitment of our entire team, and the lengths we go to so wildlife can have a second chance.”

Dr. Rudie van Vuuren, Co-Founder of the N/a’an ku sê Foundation:

“Our mission has always been to conserve Namibia’s landscapes, protect its wildlife, and support the people who live alongside them. This series captures that mission – science, passion, and teamwork working hand in hand for a better future.”

Dr. Maaike de Schepper, Wildlife Veterinarian at N/a’an ku sê:

“No day is the same here – one moment you’re treating an injured meerkat, the next you’re moving an elephant across hundreds of kilometers. Sharing these experiences with viewers is a privilege, and I hope it inspires people to care about protecting wildlife everywhere.”

Why This Matters

Vet in the Wild isn’t just a TV show – it’s a powerful reminder of the work being done in Namibia to safeguard wildlife for generations to come. By bringing viewers closer to elephants, lions, rhinos, and even the smallest creatures of the savanna, the series highlights the interconnectedness of conservation, community, and hope.
