At N/aâan ku sĂȘ, protecting Namibiaâs wildlife goes far beyond patrolling the reserves. Our dedicated conservation rangers recently participated in the Animal Crime Scene and Evidence Handling course, led by renowned experts Ulf Tubbesing and Mariska Bijsterbosch from Wildlife Vets Namibia.
Over several intensive sessions, the rangers learned how to approach crime scenes with precision, collect and preserve crucial evidence, and prepare cases that stand up in court. The training included practical exercises simulating real-life scenarios, giving participants the confidence and skills to respond effectively to wildlife crime in the field. From tracking signs of illegal hunting to handling biological samples and documenting evidence, every element was designed to strengthen Namibiaâs fight against wildlife crime.
This training gives our rangers the tools to not only protect the animals but also to bring justice for them. Every technique practiced could mean the difference between an unsolved crime and a conviction.
By equipping rangers with these advanced forensic skills, N/aâan ku sĂȘ is enhancing its ability to safeguard the countryâs wildlife. Each step taken in the field contributes to a safer future for Namibiaâs extraordinary animals. With well-trained teams on the ground, the sanctuary continues to set the standard in conservation, blending protection, education and justice for those who cannot speak for themselves.
