Caracal Misty was born at the N/a’an ku sê Foundation Wildlife Sanctuary. Her mother, orphaned due to conflict, was a beautiful sanctuary resident for many years and lit up the small screen in several natural history documentaries. Yes, the leaping skills of these incredible cats are a sight to behold. Did you know that caracals can jump up to 3 metres into the air in a single leap?
Misty soon followed in her famous mum’s footsteps, likewise appearing in a number of wildlife documentaries and television series. This makes Misty a second-to-none ambassador animal, educating a vast audience in caracal ways and inspiring the conservation of these surprisingly powerful predators.
Despite their size, caracals can bring down prey as large as sheep and small antelope. It’s all thanks to the fierce locking mechanism of their jaws.
Misty is a feisty feline who loves the attentions of film crew and being in the spotlight. Gazing over her savannah queendom is a favourite pastime and she has wormed her way into the hearts of all sanctuary staff.
Let Misty leap into your life for just USD 150.00 per year. Every symbolic animal adoption supports the N/a’an ku sê Foundation Wildlife Sanctuary.
