I loved it over there and it totally changed my life, it was such good fun and the 'work' never felt like work. Everyday was different and I enjoyed everything about the place and the people. I loved the baboon walks and going in the enclosure with them to clean their watering hole.

WILDLIFE CONSERVATION VOLUNTEER INTRODUCTION SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Our aim is to provide volunteers with the rare and exciting opportunity to work closely with and actively participate in the conservation of African wildlife.

The sanctuary currently provides a safe refuge for orphaned and injured wildlife including a number of lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, caracals and baboons. Our Wildlife Conservation Volunteers provide an important resource in caring for and feeding the animals on a daily basis, helping to maintain and develop the sanctuary and becoming surrogate parents to our orphaned baby baboons who need constant care and attention.

Volunteers are also likely to meet our gorgeous leopard cubs, Shakira and Ombelie, who are growing up fast since their arrival with us in December 09 after a farmer removed them from their mother. The leopards love their daily walk, climbing trees in their natural environment and are firm favourites amongst our volunteers who currently get to experience feeding and meeting them up close.

Wildlife Conservation Volunteers also get the rare and exciting opportunity to work alongside our carnivore experts and Bushman trackers in our conservation research programme. This may include getting involved with the monitoring activities of a number of leopard and cheetah within the local area. The aim is to gain a better understanding of big cat ecology for future conservation and to help prevent human-wildlife conflict.

Find out what activities you will take part in, visit our photo gallery and read some of our volunteer stories.

Volunteers are key to the success of this special place. All the money raised through our volunteering programme goes directly back into the project which provides employment, healthcare, education and accommodation to the local Bushman community and helps to ensure the rescue, survival and rehabilitation of African wildlife.
