If you have a skill or trade and would like to help our farm manager
with the running of N/a’an ku sê Wildlife Sanctuary as well as train our team of
San (Bushman workers) you can join us as a farm work volunteer.
This is a fantastic opportunity to use your skills to improve the lives of the San community
as well as make a difference to the animals that are cared for at our sanctuary. Useful trades
we are looking for include carpenters, plumbers, builders, welders and mechanics.
Your time will be spent working with our Farm Manager to help run and improve the farm with a
range of activities depending on your skill/trade such as:
- Fixing the cars on the farm; most of the vehicle are very old so need constant repairs
- Building new animal camps
- Fixing and repairing existing animal enclosures
- Helping to build furniture or items for the animals such as shelters and toys
- Involvement in building projects such as our new school for the Bushman children and the new houses being built for the Bushman families on the farm
- Training the Bushman workers
You need to be an enthusiastic and flexible person with a positive can do attitude. This
volunteer programme provides a real opportunity for you to make a difference to the people and
animals of Namibia, meet new people and have a unique African experience.
The sanctuary houses a number of animals including lions, leopards, cheetahs, baboons,
caracals and wild dogs and you will get a chance to spend time with some of these during your
stay. You will also work with and help train our Bushman community of around 20 workers. One
of our key aims is to improve the lives of this marginalised community through education,
employment, healthcare and improved living conditions.
Farm work volunteers receive a 50% discount off the current volunteer rate and the package
includes your accommodation and provision of three meals a day.
This is a selective programme so if you have a skill/trade and are interested in using it
