Cila
Project Manager
Cila - Project Manager I waited 10 long years for my dream job. I was patient and it paid off when I joined N/a’an ku sê in July 2006.

My job is like living a dream to me. There is alway time spent in the office like any job but when I have had enough of my computer I can walk down to the baboons and talk to them. They are good company and the perfect medicine for the soul.

My job is a bit like a "jack of all trades". Mainly I am part of the Research Team on N/a’an ku sê. We work with Leopards, Cheetahs and Brown Hyenas and help to solve the problems they cause to local farmers. We also release large carnivores, whenever possible, back into the wild where it is safe. We track and monitor these animals which means that I spend lots of my time outside in the wild and I love it.

I can truly say that my job is perfect in more ways than one.

Hardus
Farm / Operations
Hardus - Farm / Operations

I came to the farm on 1 February 2008 and then my life began at the age of 35.

I am in my dream job. Every day I work with the greatest team in the world whether its my bushmen or the management team. I am the handy man on the farm, if something is broken just tell me so I can fix it to make the stay of all (man and beast) a pleasant experience.

Where I came from is not important it's where WE are going with N/a’an ku sê and the animals that we give a second chance.

I also have the most nick names on the farm.

Flo
Head researcher/research coordinator
I started in February 2008

Flo - Head researcher/research coordinator N/a’an ku sê offers me an exceptional chance to work hands-on with big cats in an environment (which I call my office) that most people will only get to see during their holidays or on TV. I can conduct pragmatic and meaningful research simultaneously. I like our "let's tackle the problem and solve it now" approach. As a matter of fact, I have the best job in the world and I am being paid for it too.

3 yrs of Biology studies in Berlin, Germany
2 yrs of ranger training and studies in African Wildlife Management in Tanzania, including numerous expeditions
Elephant research
MSc in Animal Behaviour (African elephants) in Manchester, England
Zoo work in Germany

Carol - Wildlife co-ordinator
Carol
Wildlife co-ordinator and current teacher!
Carol is temporarily teaching school for the Bushman kids until Jill returns and is loving every minute!

My first experience of N/a’an ku sê was as a volunteer in Feb-April 07. I came back in June to fundraise for 6 months and then took over from Cila as wildlife co-ordinator.

I enjoy doing something for a cause rather than for myself or someone else. I had gone as far as I wanted in the corporate world in the UK and wanted a chance to travel and do something different.

Back in England I was a field sales manager in telecommunications prior to which I worked in advertising for Exchange and Mart.

Rhona
Lodge Manager
I started 1 June 2008

Rhona - Lodge Manager I took this once in a lifetime opportunity to work with a very special group of people namely the Bushmen. What a privilege!
I always say none of us is here by force, we all chose to be part of the N/a’an ku sê Team, so we MUST make it work.

Born in Paarl, South Africa, lived and worked there for 24 years!
Moved up to Rosh Pinah, in the South of Namibia, to open up a Guesthouse for the Anglo American Base Metals Mine - Skorpion Zinc. Worked for 4 years at Amica Guesthouse before moving to N/a’an ku sê.
Trained Chef, cooked for the likes of Nelson Mandela, REM, The Corrs, Tony Blair ... Worked at Mustard Catering in London for Lord Glynn Woodin, as well as at the Springbok Café in Chiswick, London. Did a Global Vegetarian Cooking Course at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. My Idol is Charlie Trotter - well know chef from Chicago.

Lizé - Assistant Lodge Manager
Lizé
Assistant Lodge Manager to Rhona
I started on 1 February 2009

N/a’an ku sê Lodge gives you the feeling of working and living on a unique planet where animals and humans are equal. It doesn't feel like a day to day job, it is a lifestyle worth living.

I am a Namibian girl, grew up in Windhoek. I have studied in Stellenbosch, in South Africa, for a diploma in Tourism.

Dara - also known as "Daisy" for my driving skills
Head of Finance
I joined the team in March 2008

Dara - Head of Finance I'm originally from Ireland but I took some time off work to travel in 2007 and ended up volunteering in Namibia for three months. I fell in love with the country, the people and the animals. I jumped at the chance to head up the Finance operation especially after having spent a long time in the Corporate World. I qualified as an accountant and spent eleven years in the USA working with various financial institutions. After returning to Ireland to complete my MBA, I continued to work in finance, most recently as a CFO of a software company.

One of the great things about my job is I can see all of the positive changes that result from our work. From budgeting and fundraising for collars, animal camps and now a school and Bushman village, it is never boring. One of the greatest perks is when I get to be a foster Mum. So far I have fostered caracals, a piglet and a lamb not to mention dogs, cats and parrots. Everyday brings a new adventure on the farm and I count my blessings to have landed such a great job.

Claire - Fundraising and Marketing Manager
Claire
Fundraising and Marketing Manager
I joined the team in February 2009 and know it's the best decision I have made!

I volunteered for two weeks at N/a’an ku sê in September last year and had a great time. I love my new job, being near all the animals and working for such an inspirational couple and cause. It's great to be able to use my nine year's fundraising experience and knowledge from the NSPCC to really make a difference to the children and animals we work with. I split my time between the farm and working from the UK but I know I will miss the farm loads when I'm not here.

Dana
Dana - Accountant/Human Resources Accountant/Human Resources
I came here as one of the first volunteers in March 2007 after I fell in love with Namibia, it's wildlife and people while I was volunteering regularly at another Namibian wildlife farm since 2005. I resigned at Commerzbank Dresden in Germany where I was working for 5 years and moved to Namibia to take care of N/a’an ku sê’s finances from May 2007.

In 2008 I went to work on a hunting farm for 5 months but it didn't take too long to realise that me and my 2 Jack Russels are and will always be conservationists!

So I returned to N/a’an ku sê where we'll live happily ever after and keep on doing good for Namibia's people and animals!

Jo - Wildlife Coordinator
Jo
Wildlife Coordinator
I came here as a volunteer from June - Oct 2007. I loved it here and was so sad to leave. Thankfully Carol contacted me to come back and work as the wildlife coordinator with her so I came back again in January 2008.

I love the animals, the farm, the country, the people. I love that many different animals come and live on the farm which we can look after and we end up adopting many and looking after them at our house.

There's something very special about the farm, which you can't put into words, and I'm so happy to be a part of it. I have the best job in the world.
